Thanks for all the Condor CDs. That was a great series. Looking forward to the rest if you have 'em. Either way, much appreciated.

  2. This is NOT the Decca Audition. The REAL Decca Audition has totally different songs, and the sound quality is POOR. The Decca Aud. was found by a sound engineer cleaning out a closet at Decca studios in 1973. He found this dusty old tape in the back of a closet and was about to throw it out. Then he saw the name; "Beatles" on it. He listened to it. It WAS them!
Somebody got a copy to John Lennon, at first he said no, but on second listen he said ; "YES" this is us! The tape came out as a bootleg in 1973 titled; "Yellow Matter Custard" . Paul McCartney only sings one song "Bound By Love" because he was nervous and sick. The rest of the vocals were John and George. John sang; "I Just Don't Understand". George sang; "Glad All Over" and " There's NOthin' Shakin' But The Leaves". Plus a few Buddy Holly songs. Sound is in MONO ,scratchy and distorted at times. I believe these are BBC outtakes that someone is counterfeiting as the Decca Audition. Google "Yellow Matter Custard" and you will find it. Someone is trying to change history.

  4. I dunno Unk, these sound like some of the Decca tapes to me. They definately AREN'T the BBC recordings released on Yellow Matter Custard. Did you even listen to these? Just who's trying to rewrite history?

  5. Like I told you google "Yellow Matter Custard" and you will find the real Decca Audition. I have it , but I don't know how to upload it. Google it, do some research man, the sound quality is not pristine, it was found in the back of a closet.

  6. I Googled Yellow Matter Custard and found that it is a collection of BBC recordings. Read the liner notes of the official Beatle release Anthology 1 and you will find that some of the songs listed above were recorded at Decca, as stated. This album is the Decca Auditions.

  7. No it is not. Here are 2 websites that are no longer available but look at the songs, this is the REAL Decca Audition.

Unfortunately ; the links for these are dead but , LOOK at the songs, all different and only one sang by Paul; "Bound By Love". Although the one has it listed as the Honeymoon Song, but it is "Bound By Love" only song sung by Paul. Look at the difference in songs. This is the real "Yellow Matter Custard" released back in 72 or 73 and has the Decca Audition that was given to Lennon and he verified it. It was discussed in a radio show back in 1974 , that I listened to , and a week later a friend of mine found the bootleg at Bleecker Bob's in Greenwich Village. The other songs may have been recorded at Decca but it was after January 1962 when they auditioned.

  8. This is the description taken from the link you just gave.

"An unofficial ca. 1972 pressing of BBC recordings taken from Pop Go The Beatles Nos. 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 15. A/K/A "As Sweet As You Are."

Most of these tracks, if not all, were eventually officially released on The Beatles - Live At The BBC and some other Apple compilations."

It says BBC recordings. Not the Decca tapes.

  9. Unk, I don't need to reserch something I already know! I have the original Yellow Matter Custard bootleg, bought it in 1972 bub. It is not the Decca audition recorded on January 1, 1962. It's a collection of BBC broacasts taped of a radio and in really crappy sound. The same performances were issued on 'The Beatles at The BBC' in the 90s with much better fidelity. Now go find yourself a handle. Phew....
